Preferred Patient Spotlight
Meet Macy Brown
Preferred provides DME, Pharmacy and a nursing staff for Macy and our family. We have used Pharmacy and DME since 2006 when Macy came home from the hospital after a spinal fusion. We started with the nursing staff in 2013 after she received a tracheostomy. The Children’s Hospital referred us to Preferred in 2006. Preferred has always been friendly and prompt in their services to Macy. When I’ve called the Pharmacy for refills, added prescriptions or an emergent need, they have always been friendly and helpful. The DME also has been prompt when we have needed anything fixed or serviced. Nursing Care has been a God-send to our family. I can call anytime and be confident that they will take care of any need that I have…and that gives me real peace of mind.
Macy was born with congenital CMV which caused calcifications in her brain. We didn’t know when she was born that she had special needs, but they showed up soon after. She was diagnosed at 3 months. Macy has many diagnoses including: cerebral palsy, cortical vision impairment, deafness, microcephaly, osteoporosis, scoliosis, failure to thrive, seizures and the list goes on. She has had many surgeries including spinal fusion, gastrostomy tube and tracheostomy. She just recently had a VNS placement, which seems to be already helping her with her seizures. She has had many obstacles in her life, but has overcome so much with a smile, which makes us all smile. Macy is a blessing to all of us and we are thankful to God for her. After Macy got her tracheostomy in 2013, her health needs became more involved. We were taking care of her needs 24/7 and our health was being affected. We were exhausted and felt that Macy needed more care, especially during the night. We were concerned how having a nurse in the house would affect our family life since we also have 2 older children who lived at home at the time. But we were to the point that we needed help. It ended up being the Best. Decision. Ever!! After nursing care was established for Macy, our lives became so much better. We were no longer exhausted and our health became better. Macy was cared for through the night by competent, trustworthy professionals. We could rest knowing Macy was in good hands! Macy’s health improved as well with the added help. Thank you, Preferred!
